Sources policy
What we rely on, in what order, and how we tell you where a claim comes from.
Order of preference
- Regulators and official bodies — the Gambling Commission, GAMSTOP, HMRC, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Advertising Standards Authority.
- The operator's published terms — bonus terms, general terms and licensing statements, read in full and dated.
- Game studios — published RTP and game rules from Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Play'n GO and Evolution.
- Charities and health services — GamCare, BeGambleAware, Gamblers Anonymous and the NHS for support information.
What we do not use as a source
Anonymous forum posts, unverified screenshots and other affiliate sites' summaries. These can prompt us to check something, but they are never the basis of a published statement.
Operator claims
Some details can only come from the operator — processing times, game counts, support hours. We report them with clear wording such as "as advertised" and avoid presenting them as independently confirmed.
Linking
Links to regulators, charities and help services are editorial and never paid. Links to the operator are affiliate links and are marked as sponsored in the page code. Outbound links to help services open in a new tab so you do not lose your place.
Keeping sources current
Regulation changes. When a UK rule we cite is amended — as the rules on bonus wagering and slot stakes have been in recent years — we update every page that refers to it.
Dating what we read
Terms pages change without notice. When we rely on one, we record the date we read it and keep a private copy, so that if a figure later moves we can show what it said at the time. Our guides display the date of the last check rather than the date of first publication, because the latter tells you nothing about whether the content is still right.
