How we review

Our assessments are built around one question: what does this operator mean for a player who lives in Great Britain?

The criteria, in order of weight

1. Licence and recourse. Who licenses the operator, what complaint route exists, and what a UK player loses compared with a Gambling Commission site.
2. Safer-gambling tools. Deposit and loss limits, time reminders, cool-off and self-exclusion — and whether they can be set without contacting support.
3. Payments from the UK. Which methods work with UK accounts, currency conversion, minimums, and the realistic time to receive money in sterling.
4. Bonus terms. Wagering basis and multiple, stake caps, game contributions, expiry, and what the offer costs in expected value.
5. Verification. When checks happen, what documents are requested and how clearly the process is explained.
6. Games and support. Studios, live tables, sportsbook coverage, support hours.

How we gather information

We read the operator's terms, bonus rules and licensing statements in full and record the date. We compare regulatory claims with primary sources such as the Gambling Commission and the licensing authority named. Where something can only be confirmed by the operator — such as processing times — we say "as advertised" so readers know whose claim it is.

No scores for the sake of it

We do not award star ratings. A single number hides the very trade-off our readers most need to weigh: a generous offer against weaker protections. Instead each guide ends with a plain verdict.

Currency conversions

All sterling figures use a stated, rounded exchange rate. We update the rate if the pound moves significantly, and we never present a converted figure as a guaranteed amount.

Re-review schedule

Guides are reviewed monthly, and immediately after any change in licence, ownership or headline offer.

Testing what we can

Where it is possible without misrepresenting ourselves, we check the parts of the experience a reader will meet first: whether the cashier shows currencies clearly, whether limits can be set before a deposit, and how long a live-chat reply takes at a busy hour. We do not claim results from testing we have not done.
